Help x 3 + so much more
Hello! I hope you have all had a wonderful bank holiday weekend. We managed a BBQ on Sunday but definitely needed the patio heater and gazebo at times! And then yesterday was lovely – sat out reading a novel that a client has written. It is about a massage therapist and is a bit of a saucy romp – I think I’ve been very lucky not to have the odd ‘odd’ client throughout my massage career. Maybe aromatherapy doesn’t attract them!! If you fancy having a read the author is Nicky Abell-Francis and the book is “Rekindling Connections”.
And now for the help!
I have 3 requests for you for help. The first 2 are on behalf of Book at Bedtime – my charity that donates bookcases of children’s books to women’s refuges. I have a bookcase that needs delivering to the Anglesey refuge. Is anyone going to Anglesey in the next few weeks or knows someone that is and wouldn’t mind doing a little detour to drop off the bookcase? It is a small bookcase and will fit in any standard sized car.
The 2nd request for help is for volunteers for Saturday 7th June to help man/woman a stall in Queen’s Square, Wrexham 10-3 at the AVOW Heart of Volunteering Day. There is going to be lots of stalls, live music, children’s play day and lots more. We are hopefully going to collect loads of books and promote Book at Bedtime and I could really do with your help. If you can give me an hour, a morning or even all day please let me know. Please pass this email on to anyone who you think may want or be able to help. If you have somewhere that can display a poster then please ask and I’ll email it.
The last request doesn’t require you to move from your chair! A client is hoping to gain enough votes for them to win a community award so that the sweet Grade II* deconsecrated chapel in Pontrobert can get a new roof! They use the chapel for the local community and are currently having to dodge buckets all over the floor. And ladies – if you need any more motivation – there is a connection to Ann Griffiths who was Wales’ greatest woman hymn writer. Girl Power!! There is also a Peace Garden that has been created behind the chapel and for the walkers amongst you the Ann Griffiths Walk is a lovely 7-mile walk from Pont Llogel to Pontrobert. So what do you need to do?
Voting on-line at www.engagemutual.com/foundation for a Community Award of £25,000 for John Hughes Memorial Chapel by 31st May. (you need to register first – then put in the search boxes ‘Wales’ and ‘£25,000’ and the chapel is on the second line of photos on the left. It took a couple of minutes in total)
And please post on FB and tweet if that’s your thing. I have already voted and posted on FB!
And now for some health snippets!
Can emotions be inherited? Those of you who are kinesiology clients will know the answer to this one! But scientists in Atlanta decided to check it out with mice. They managed to get a group of mice to become scared of a particular smell and when their offspring came into contact with the smell they also were scared – even though they had never been with their parents when they had exhibited the fear. This carried onto the next generation as well. So that fear you have? It may not be yours! There is a simple kinesiology technique to remove these inherited emotions so if you suspect that something maybe holding you back but can’t put your finger on it it may be one of these pesky inherited emotions!
Healthy babies are not only mum’s concern. We all know that it is important for women to look after their diet if they are planning a pregnancy but recent research shows that the dad’s health is important too. This reminds me of a TV programme a couple of years ago when couples who were having difficulty conceiving tried a high anticxidant juice addition to the men’s normal diet for a number of weeks. At the end of the study the number of sperm and their motility had not improved at all but the DNA quality of the sperm had remarkably. And 3 of the 12 ladies were pregnant! So it’s not the number or speed that’s important – it’s the quality and that was improved with those fab anti-oxidants. The recent study in mice also looked at folate (why women take folic acid) which helps re-programming of DNA. Without this errors occur. So father’s need to look at their diet and lifestyle because all this information goes into the sperm that becomes your new offspring!
And finally – a date for your diary. My next talk will be on October 8th, 7-9pm, Gladstone’s Library and will be on improving your immune system. I know it’s quite a long way away and I will remind you nearer the time but it you want to book a ticket just let me know. And as an extra immune tip – the wonderful elder tree packs an immune punch. The berries contain stacks of goodies that in trials have cut the time you suffer with flu symptoms in half. It is also effective against Herpes, colds, streptococcus pathogens as well as reducing the oxidation of LDL cholesterol. Elderberry extract is available and looks like a great addition to your medicine cabinet.
Have a lovely evening, Peta
